“Gather My Scattered Saints” was the original inspiration for Ekklesia Fellowship House Church-1. God spoke these words to Joseph’s heart several years ago as he kept meeting saints who no longer attended traditional church but were either still believers in Jesus Christ, or at least interested in spiritual things. What they all had in common was that were not attracted to 'church'. Perhaps that describes you. Here is the original church model as described in the Book of Acts: (42) They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (43) Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. (44) And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; (45) and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. (46) Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, (47) praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Act 2:42-47 NASB emphasis mine) This passage describes a miraculous-powerful, authentic, joyful, intimate, growing community of disciples who met primarily in homes. Unbelievers were flocking to church, not leaving it. ‘Ekklesia’, the Greek word translated ‘church’, simply means a ‘gathering,’ a Christian community of believers. The bible shows that, when Christians gather informally, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, great things happen! Next, here are the original mission and method:
(17) "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; (18) they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." (19) So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. (20) And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed. (Mar 16:15-20 NASB emphasis mine) Ekklesia's (our name for true church) goal must remain the same as that of Jesus: to make passionate disciples who change their world through the power of the Holy Spirit. We also believe the method must remain intact as well. So, starting with house-church and moving Ekklesia's doctrine, pattern and practice back to its original design, we hope to create a welcome atmosphere for God's power to flow once again. We won’t stop until we can say, like the apostle Paul:
… and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of mankind, but on the power of God. (1Co 2:4-5 NASB) An authentic, healthy and miraculously-powerful Ekklesia is the only hope of re-gathering His scattered saints and turning the world upside down once again. We invite you to join us on the journey. |
